Design for Change (DFC) is the world’s largest movement of children and youth -driving change by unleashing their ‘I CAN’ spirit. The program has been designed to give the young an opportunity to express their own ideas for a better tomorrow and put them into action. https://dfcsingapore.com/annual-dfc-challenge/

Participation is FREE and each school/organisation can submit upto 10 entries.  If your students have yet to finish their project this year; you may submit last year's project as an entry, provided it wasn't submitted for the Design for Change Singapore Challenge previously.

Please complete this form to register your interest in participating in the 14th Annual Design for Change Singapore Challenge 2023. Please read the steps below for more information about the Challenge. More information about the next steps will be forwarded to you by email on completion of this form.

Step 1: Complete the form below.
After registration, Design For Change Singapore will contact you with more information about the Challenge and instructions for online ‘I CAN Story’ submissions.

Step 2: Online ‘I CAN Story’ submission by the 30th September 2023
Registered participants will be sent simple instructions on how to upload their ‘I CAN Story’ (any Values in Action / Community Service / Social Entrepreneurship completed project) on the global website (challenge.dfcworld.com).  If you would like to see examples from previous challenges check out the DFC Stories of Change website (stories.dfcworld.com). The mentor/teacher will be required to submit the project for their students. Stories are submitted in a Photo Story or Video Story format (more instructions to follow upon registration).

Step 3: Once submitted, all entries will be available to view on the DFC Stories for Change website.
Entries will be evaluated by an expert panel of judges  to determine the winners. All stories will be shared on the global Design for Change stories website (stories.dfcworld.com)

Step 4: Shortlisted schools will be invited to share their story at the 14th Annual ‘Be the Change’ Singapore Celebration 2023 in November. Virtual / F2F)

Step 5: Winners will be chosen from each category: Primary, Secondary School and Poly/JC levels  
Winners will be announced at the ‘Be the Change’ Celebration event in November.

Design for Change Singapore Challenge is organised by SoCh in Action (“the Organiser).

1. Entry / Eligibility
1.1. This Challenge is open to Singapore citizens and all people residing in Singapore.
1.2. Registration and submissions to be made only by Primary Schools, Secondary school and home-schoolers in the Schools’ Categories and Poly/JC Category
1.3. School Team/Individual (Primary/ Secondary/Poly/JC)
In previous years teams have comprised 3 to 5 students, and a teacher as the mentor. This year, in light of COVID-19, DFC Singapore will also accept entries from individuals and pairs. The school may register up to 10 teams/entries.

2. Challenge categories and deadlines
2.1. This Challenge has 3 main categories : Primary, Secondary School Category &  Poly/JC Category.  We encourage students to relate to any of the 17 UN's Sustainable Global Goals.  We may introduce some categories based on requests from our collaborators.  
2.2. Entry to this challenge shall be through online submission (deadline 30th September 2023) only. Details on entry submission will be shared the mentor / teacher after registration.

3. Discretion of the Organiser
3.1. The organiser reserves the right to cancel or suspend the Challenge, disqualify any participant or entry that does not comply with the criteria stated in these Terms and Conditions and withhold prizes from any participant who has breached any of these Terms and Condition.
3.2. The organiser reserves the right to use the winner's names, images and comments relating to their challenge experience for the purpose of any announcement or promotional, marketing and/or publicity purposes in any media without any fee being paid.
3.3. The organiser reserves the right to request the winner to provide proof of identity and age and/or eligibility (if required) in order to claim a prize. Proof of identification and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the organiser. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.  
3.4. The organiser reserves the right to revise these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice being given.
3.5. The organiser reserves the right to use, reproduce, edit and distribute any materials submitted for this Challenge (except personal and contact details) for publication and/or display in any media format and any media channels without obtaining further prior permission and payment of any fees or royalty to the participant. The materials may be used for the following purposes:
i. Operating, administering and promoting the Challenge, before and after the challenge has ended;
ii. Displaying the participant’s materials on the Challenge website and/or the organiser and sponsors’ websites;
iii. Issuing a media release or making media pitches with materials regarding the winning entries;
iv. Usage of the participant’s materials during the organiser’s road-shows, exhibitions and in publications both printed and online, for purposes which are non-profit in nature, such as for the promotion of social innovation in Singapore.
3.6. Where any materials of a participant is published or displayed by the organiser or sponsors, the participant / school will be credited.
3.7. Entry into the Challenge will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
