Southend Asset of Community Value Survey

Save our at-risk community facilities:  Southend Marine Activities Centre & Shoebury Common Ness Road Slipway

Community facilities are crucial to the development of sustainable communities, where the needs of existing and future residents need to be met to ensure a high quality of life. It is important Urban Cure build up an accurate and robust understanding of our community water sport needs

The aim of the survey is to enable the residents of South Essex has a chance to shape the future of water sport and cultural activity on the Southend estuary by submitting their views to help challenge the council’s decisions for this public land and building to turn Southend Marine Activities Centre into office for the foreshore team and toilets. Let us put a stop to the council’s criminalisation, discrimination and alienation of over 2700 members of the PWC Community for being on Southend Seafront.

To ensure we understand the views of individuals/groups in different areas of South Essex and the UK for our application for transferring the management of these water sport facilities to Urban Cure CIC, as we believe they are not run effectively for the community use.

Your contribution to this audit is invaluable and will strengthen the Urban Cure CIC's position when seeking to petition the council and secure funding for investment in community facilities.

This survey should take about 5-10min.

Please complete and submit the Survey by 1st October 2022

Southend Marine Activity Centre decision should have taken 8 weeks, the application was sent 1st June 2020, the council was contacted again 14 weeks after the application and still they have not responded in writing.

Urban Cure aim to petition the council to turn the stage 1 initial request for Right to Bid around in a four-month timescale but recognise stage 2 business planning, feasibility/project development processes will take much longer. Do you agree with the timescales outlined?
