East Midlands Cheerleading Academy (EMCA) is committed to equitable access in sport for all, from young people involved to the development of coaches and volunteers. We believe that everyone has the right to take part in cheerleading, to the level of their choice irrespective of their race, gender, disability, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, geographical location or social status.

EMCA will ensure that positive action with regard to attracting young people, coaches and volunteers into the development pathways available. EMCA recognises that certain groups in society are underrepresented within the club. We aim to attempt to break down the barriers that prevent participation through positive action by:

• Making classes accessible to all by being in a central location within Nottingham close to a multitude of public transport links

• Making the facility a safe and accessible place for those with physical and/or intellectual difficulties

• Ensure that participation is not hindered by the cost of activity. We aim to seek external funding to help reduce cost of equipment and kit.

• Equity Awareness training is available and easily accessible to all via the British Cheerleading Association

• A commitment to non‐discriminatory behaviour by all participants to build a welcoming, culturally diverse environment, through the development of a comprehensive and fair complaints procedure at local level and through the British Cheerleading Association, to deal with any complaints of discrimination
