D'Lion Application for 2021-2022
Welcome D'Lion Applicants!

Looking back at your first year, who impacted you the most? Your RA, D'Lion, First-Year Fellow, TA, etc. Do you want to be that person/mentor to the new incoming class? Are you looking for a fun leadership position that focuses on building a diverse community by creating spirit and involvement throughout the First-year buildings? Then join the D'Lions!

If you are reading this application because you have an interest in promoting fun and spirit throughout the residence halls, please read over some of the commitments that come with being part of the D’Lion Organization and emphasize the true purpose of being a D’Lion.

1. Every D’Lion actively participates on a year-long committee that is responsible for organizing events such as campus activities, community service, and social activities.
2. D’Lions are responsible for door tags, floor bulletin boards, and on-going birthday/spirit celebrations for their residents.
3. Each D’Lion coordinates programs for their floor.
5. D’Lions are located in all of First-Year Housing in single rooms. While preferences are accepted, D’Lions are not given the opportunity to choose their room placement. A random lottery will sort housing assignments. Considerations will only be made for those who need accommodations. Residential Life personnel will supervise the placement of D'Lions. D’Lion assignments will be announced prior to the campus-wide Residential Life Room Lottery.
6. D’Lions must be in good standing with the University at the time of applying and throughout their time as a D'Lion. Any D’Lions found in violation of the University Standards of Conduct may be released from their position and be relocated from First-Year Housing.
7.  The D'Lion organization wants you to strive to be student leaders! D’Lions are selected to welcome the incoming class to campus and to be role models representing all aspects of the University of Rochester life. D’Lions are also part of an organization with Executive Board and Chairperson opportunities. This is your chance to shine in the University community and give back to others the welcoming, fun environment that your D’Lion gave to you.
8. D’Lions are required campus early in August for training, floor preparation, and assist with moving residents in on International Move-in Day and Domestic Student Move-in Day. The date is TBD based on the First Move-in date.

We will be holding a general interest meeting (GIM) Thursday, February 11 at 8PM via Zoom using this link.
