ABOUT the YOUNG ACTORS LAB
The Brava Theater and the San Francisco Bay Area Theater Company Present The Young Actors Lab Summer Intensives
Led by accomplished local professionals our Young Actors Lab (YAL) intensives are an opportunity for students ages 13 - 18 to develop their craft while building a relationship with Brava and SFBATCO, which KQED recently called “one of the most critical developers of new work in the Bay.” Students will gain a wide range of skills, including:
- Script analysis, helping actors make bold choices that serve the story,
- Movement and physical expression
- Dynamic vocal technique and production
- Ensemble building and professional rehearsal etiquette
- Preparation for professional or college level auditions
Intensive Program Schedule
ACTING TECHNIQUE & ACTING FOR THE CAMERAJuly 7-18, 10 AM-3 PM, with a culminating showcase on July 18 at 3 PM
Students will explore the practice of acting from the foundations including foundational voice and movement for the actor and scene study. Students will develop their work on camera and build the capacity to self tape for professional and college level auditions. Over the two weeks, students will develop their ability to create strong performance and share their work with friends, family and industry professionals. At the end of the intensive students will record a monologue, and or rehearse a contemporary scene which will be shared at a showcase for friends, family and industry professionals.

Aidaa Peerzada (Recent credits: Magic Theatre, SFBATCO, Word4word, Marin Theatre. BFA Carnegie Mellon School of Drama)
Sedrick Cabrera, recently seen in the hit film Freaking Tales acting opposite Pedro Pascal
LOCATION: All sessions will be held at the Brava Theater Center, 2781 24th St, San Francisco
Tuition
Full Tuition: $700
Limited full and half scholarships available, please be sure to choose "YES" on the Scholarship Opt in Question below if you would like to be considered for a scholarship
Refund policies:
- May 13: Deadline for full tuition refund request
- May 20: Deadline for refund with $100 withdrawal fee
- JUNE 16: Deadline for 50% refund for Session 1
- JUNE 30: Deadline for 50% refund for Session 2
