Gentle daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythms guide children through their experience

Morning Song Preschool Basic Rhythm - Monday through Friday  (8:45am-12:00pm)

8:45-10:00    Nature exploring and free play

10:00-10:30   Circle and/or Story Time--poems, songs, finger-plays, creative movement, games.

10:30-11:00   Snack and clean up; wash dishes

11:00-11:30  Work and play inside (painting, handwork, snack preparation)

11:30-12:00    Outdoor playtime; parent pickup

Prairie Flower operates as a cooperative, in the sense that all preschool families participate in helping it run smoothly. "Many hands make light work," has always been our motto.  Parents (or another family participant) are expected to help out for ten hours each semester. Extended Afternoon River Song Program Selection
On Tuesday and Thursday we offer an optional extended day program with a nourishing and delicious hot meal served.

Afternoon River Song Rhythm (12:00 pm - 3 :00 pm)

12:00-12:45 Free play and work time (children help with lunch prep, setting table, etc.)

12:45-1:30 Lunch & wash dishes

1:30-2:30/3 Quiet rest & relaxation time-- children may sleep, or may also draw as they rest on their blankets, or look at books quietly.

2:30-3:00 Play and focused handwork; parent pickup

On Wednesdays, we offer another optional extended day program called "Bridge to Woods Wednesday" from 12-*2:30. For this program, children bring in their own lunch, and, if weather allows, children eat their lunches together outside, before coming inside to rest.                                                                                              *Children who are 5 and up also have the option to stay for our afterschool nature club from 2:30-5:30 on Wednesdays; that is a separate application.    Would you like to enroll your child for Bridge to Woods Wednesdays? *
