Award-winning author and teaching artist Brian Malloy will lead this FREE ten-week course designed especially for people living with HIV and AIDS.  
NO WRITING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE.  
Each week, we'll explore poetry, personal essays and memoirs, and fiction in order to express ourselves through the written word.  We'll read examples of works by writers with HIV and AIDS to inspire our own work.  At the end of our ten weeks, we'll create a class chapbook of our original works, and celebrate with a final reading that friends and family may attend.
*Classes will be held on ten consecutive Mondays beginning October 7, 2019.  Classes will go from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and will be located at JustUs Health by University and MN 280.  Some transportation assistance and childcare assistance is available based upon need.
*Earn up to $100 in gift cards for consistent attendance.  $50 will be awarded for attending five classes and $100 for attending all ten.
*JustUs Health is committed to leading the work to achieve health equity for diverse gender, sexual, and cultural communities.  As part of this commitment, we recognize that arts education programs have not been afforded to every community in an equitable manner.  Based on the most recent data for Minnesota available, we have determined that to best address these inequities, some factors should be given preference in the likely event that there are more eligible applicants than the twelve available spots in this class.
Applications from the following will be given priority:

•Persons who identify as Hispanic, African American or Black, African-born, Native American or Indigenous, Asian or Pacific Islander, Multiracial, or otherwise than White

•Persons who identify as transgender, gender non-conforming, genderqueer, two spirit, or otherwise than cisgender

•Persons who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, pansexual, asexual, or otherwise than heterosexual

•Persons who have NOT received any post-graduate degree (ex: a PhD or Masters degree)
