Seabed 2030 is a collaborative project between Nippon Foundation and GEBCO with the aim of facilitating the complete mapping of the ocean floor by the year 2030 and compiling all bathymetric data into the freely available GEBCO map. Regional centers have been established to engage with communities and initiatives and promote collaboration and coordination.

The Atlantic and Indian Oceans Regional Center (AIORC) is responsible for ~140.7 million km2 of ocean, which spans the coastlines of 117 countries. The center is based in the United States at Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.
