Canadian Anglican/Indigenous Relations Past and Present
This year’s Lenten study course is “Canadian Anglican/Indigenous Relations, Past and Present,” led by Dr. Karen Sunabacka. Karen is a composer and faculty member in the Department of Music at Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo, and is a member of the Metis Nation of Manitoba and grew up in Treaty 1 Territory.  She is also married to our Rector, Preston Parsons.

This five-week study will begin by discussing terminology and place, situating ourselves within the context of Canada and the peoples who lived here before North America was colonized. Then we will learn about St. Paul’s H.M. Royal Chapel of the Mohawk and its place in Six Nations History. Finally we will read about Residential schools, the Apology by the Most Reverend Michael Peers in 1993, and think about how we might contribute for the future.

Event materials will all be distributed in advance along with the Zoom information.

Event Timing: Tuesday Evenings at 7:00pm (for 5 weeks starting March 8th, 2022)
