WHAT IS AVID?
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and is a university readiness system with content expectations aligned to university level rigor. By enrolling in the AVID program, you are committing to participate for all four years. Students will gain exclusive opportunities designed for AVID students. These opportunities include individualized supports in preparing and applying to universities.

WHAT does AVID offer?
● Individualized attention to high school course planning and selection for optimized California University entrance requirement completion.
● University level Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading to maximize successful completion of post secondary degrees.
● Access to college tutors who develop critical thinking strategies for success in all high school and university coursework.
● Individual advisement and support in advanced coursework, including AP and IB classes
● Access to PSAT, ACT and or SAT exams preparation
● University experiences, leadership roles and community service opportunities.
● Priority access to academic opportunities to advance coursework and balance all academic needs
● Individualized support for completing university applications and the financial resources available.
What are AVID parent expectations?
● Encourage and support their student’s increasing academically rigorous achievements
● Encourage and support their student’s involvement in AVID community service and fundraising opportunities
● Keep regular contact with AVID teachers and coordinator
● Become involved in the AVID program

What are AVID results?
Over 95% of students who have graduated from AVID programs have enrolled in four-year colleges and universities. Two years later, 89% are still enrolled. The school average is 74% of students who have graduated enrolled in four year colleges and universities, and two years later only 69% of those are still enrolled.
