Second Chance Community Solar Garden has been installed and is sending energy to the grid.

The North High School Community Solar Garden is installed and estimated to be connected to the grid in Early Winter 2023. North High School construction delayed our project, but it will be worth the wait!

Both community solar gardens are full, but we encourage you to join our waitlist. We prioritize community members who have a low or median income, so please provide that information on this interest form.

We are in active development of new community solar projects.

Requirements for participation in a community solar garden:
You pay your own Xcel electric bill, not through a landlord or third party.
You live in Hennepin County or a county next to Hennepin County.

Each CSG subscription is 1kw.

We have three options to participate:
1. PAY AS YOU GO Shares require no up front money and we don't require a minimum income or credit score. Pay As You Go Shares receive a smaller bill credit, since you pay for your subscription as you go along, with the benefit of not having to put money down up front.

Each month, subscribers automatically get a credit on their electric bill according to your subscription amount and the amount of electricity the array produces. We then invoice you each month for your small installment payment to us. The monthly rate to you is lower than the Xcel bill credit rate averaged out over a year – so you come out ahead with MCA Community Solar.

2. PAY UP FRONT Shares are $950 and you receive your total electric bill credit for the solar energy produced
Pay Up Front that increases by 2.25% a year. You pay an annual $47 operation and maintenance fee, that goes up 2% a year.

3. Make a tax deductible donation to provide a Pay Up Front subscription to be allocated to community member with low incomes.
