Sounds Apart Literacy and Numeracy Summer Programming
Small Groups and One-to-One Tutoring Options

Sounds Apart's Summer 2025 programs are intended for students who have had previous reading and writing, or numeracy intervention. As well, we have programs designed for children who have been identified by their teachers as needing extra reading and writing support, but who may not have had the chance to register in external literacy or numeracy support.

Customized programs are designed by the Sounds Apart leadership team and delivered by MRU teacher candidates (TCs) with prior experience delivering reading intervention. The leadership team will be onsite throughout the program, offering mentorship and direct support at all group lessons.


Our 90-minute lessons will be synchronous and occur over ANY of the listed weeks in July and August.

Rather than teaching a broad set of reading and spelling skills, and math concepts, we intend to use the condensed summer schedule to target very specific literacy and numeracy skills.

The Summer Literacy Program offers 10-days of intensive literacy instruction divided over two weeks in July and August.

GROUP LESSONS: Select Time Below

Once/Day Lessons will run for 1.5 hours, Monday-Friday. 

Twice/Day Lessons: Back-to-Back lessons will run from 9:00 - 12:15, offering 3.0 hours of instruction and 15 minutes for 'recess' Monday - Friday.

For 2 lessons/day, please select your START-TIME. Your child will be automatically added to the adjacent lesson.

One-to-One Private Lesson: July and August

Weekly 60-minutes lessons (up to three times per week available)

Offered Monday to Friday between 3:00 - 7:00 pm.

Fee Information

Registration Fee: $50.00/child due at registration, non-refundable.

PRIVATE, ONE-TO-ONE tutoring will occur ALL summer: 

Hourly Rate: $85.00
You will be invoiced on July 1 and August 1 for monthly lessons.


GROUPS LESSONS:

Weekly 1.5 hour lessons over 2 weeks:  $1000.00 for TEN, 90-minute lessons. (15 hours of instruction, $67.00/hour)

Weekly 3.0 hour lessons over 2 weeks: $2000.00 for TWENTY, 90-minutes lessons (30 hours of instruction at $67.00/hour)

Payment Date: To hold your child's spot, payment is due at registration.

Program Options:

By selecting Reading & Writing, you are asking for your child's group to focus on specific literacy skills deemed most important for them for the upcoming year. These skills will be determined through your conversations with the Sounds Apart Team, as well as with current teacher input when possible.

By selecting MATH intervention, you are asking for your child's group to focus on foundational numeracy skills needed for greater accuracy and automaticity at a specific grade level. These skills will be determined through your conversations with the Sounds Apart Team, as well as with current teacher input when possible.

Math Program Options
Homework: Are you interested in purchasing homework packages that cover all learned concepts? These packages will be available for the weeks between the July and August sessions. Fee: $20.00 *
SUMMER 2025 ABSENCE and WITHDRAWAL POLICY:

Absent/Missed Lessons:

Private Lessons: With 24-hour prior notification, lessons can be rescheduled or a credit can be carried over to the next invoice.

Group Lesson: NO refund or make-up lessons are offered with group lessons.

Withdrawal Policy: 

Withdrawal due to ILLNESS will require a doctor's note BEFORE the beginning of each weekly program. No partial refunds will be available once your child has started their weekly group lessons.

Withdrawal Fee Structure:

Notification is provided before June 15th = 100% of total fees paid will be reimbursed.

Notification is provided between June 16th AND 7-days before the start of each weekly program = 50% of total fees will be reimbursed.

Notification is provided within 7 days of program start-date = No reimbursement provided
