Climbing Site Manager Position Application 2021
The Adventure WV Climbing Site Manager works during the summer season to support the top-rope climbing trips for the First-Year Trips programs and Climbing Wall operations and special events at the WVU Student Recreation Center. This position provides part-time, up to 20 hours/week of work throughout the summer with varied hours and position responsibilities, along with the possibility of continuing work throughout the following academic year.

The position is an opportunity to engage and work with a variety of populations from incoming first year students, current students at WVU, and external community groups. Site Managers should expect to work in challenging environments alongside other outdoor professionals at Adventure WV creating meaningful experiences and facilitating individual growth in participants. Site managers will develop and practice a wide range of skills, including technical climbing systems, leadership skills, and instructional skills. Climbing Site Managers will manage all aspects of the First-Year Trips climbing activities at Coopers Rock State Forest, guided climbing experiences and Climbing SIte Manager's may work to to complement Climbing Wall operations at the WVU Climbing Wall.

Candidates qualifications include: Status as a current WVU student, the ability to work well in a group of co-instructors and interact professionally with a variety of client groups, sound judgment and decision-making skills, an awareness for risk management in an outdoor environment, and an ability to work varied hours outside of a normal workday (including evenings, weekends, and holidays). Preferred qualifications include: A background in climbing both indoor and outdoors, and demonstrated experiences with belaying.  

The Climbing Site Manager position is part-time/varied-hours work, it is possible to work this position and another position with Adventure WV during the 2021 Summer Season (for example, it is possible to be both a First-Year Trips Leader and a Climbing Site Manager for the 2021 Summer Season).

Pay: Hourly base rate pay of $9.50/hour for a first-year Site Manager, with an increase commensurate to experience and trainings in addition to the base rate hourly pay.
