Happening Rectors must:

• Be a Senior in High School during the 2021/2022 school year
• Have worked at least 1 Happening Team
• Be active in an Episcopal parish and Episcopal youth group
• Be a confirmed Episcopalian (or in the process of being confirmed)
• Be living as a Christian example to your peers. In other words, you not only talk the talk, but you walk it too
• Complete the Happening Team Application
• Complete the Rector application and return it by August 29

Letters of Recommendation from:

• Your parish priest
• Your youth leader

If a youth leader doesn't exist in your parish, a letter from your Sunday Morning Formation Teacher, a Vestry Member, or other church leader is acceptable.

Personal Faith Statement:
Reflect on your faith and how you live out that faith in the world and how you nurture your faith on a regular basis. The time and energy you put into your Faith Statement will impact the discernment process of the Happening Steering Committee when electing the next Rector.

• Why is serving as Rector important to you?
• What leadership qualities will you bring to the Happening Movement?
• How are you a leader in your church?
• How are you a leader in your community or school?

You are responsible for making sure that the letters of recommendation and your personal faith statement are emailed to: dioatlhappening@gmail.com before the application deadline. The Happening Steering Committee will review applications at the next Steering Committee meeting. Please don't contact Happening Steering Committee members to find out results.

Happening Celebration Team counts as a Team served, but you also need to have served on Happening Team as well.

Serving as Rector is a major responsibility to be carried out with humility and total commitment to serving God and His church. The Rector must be willing to adhere to the rules of Happening and to accept the decisions of the Lay Director and the Steering Committee. Please enter into this commitment prayerfully and with the support of your family, priest, and youth leader.

A Rector/OR commits:
•To uphold the Community Covenant, specifically to PRESENT CHRIST wherever he/she is.
•To set an example of commitment for all Team. The OR should be the most committed to fulfilling all team duties.
•To attend all team meetings & trainings and the Weekend in their entirety, during position as OR.
•To help plan & attend all team meetings & trainings and the Weekend in their entirety, during position as Rector.

I believe that I am serving my Lord and living as a Christian example to my peers. I am mentally and spiritually capable of serving as Rector. I commit to fulfilling all the duties of the position should I be chosen. I understand that the position of Rector is selected by the Steering Committee. *
