This survey aims to explore the effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in combating the spread of misinformation and fake news in the digital society. In today’s world, where information spreads rapidly and seamlessly, the prevalence of misinformation and fake news has become a significant concern. The rise of digital society has provided a fertile ground for disseminating misleading information, leading to potentially harmful consequences for individuals, communities, and even nations. As a result, combating misinformation and fake news has emerged as a critical challenge that requires innovative and effective solutions. Artificial intelligence (AI), with its ability to process large amounts of data and perform complex tasks, has been proven as a promising tool in the fight against misinformation and fake news. Using AI algorithms, it is possible to detect and analyze disinformation distribution patterns, identify sources of disinformation, and develop countermeasures to mitigate its impact. The potential of artificial intelligence in this field is undeniable, but its effectiveness is still the subject of ongoing debate and research.
