If you have a dog that meets the requirements listed below that you'd like to sign up to be a potential blood donor for other patients, please fill out this form to join the phone tree. We appreciate you and your service - as do our patients and their families! Your dog could save a life.
Please note: we do not operate a blood bank - when we are in need of a blood donor we will go through this list and call until we find one who's available. In order to collect blood we need, donors will be lightly sedated and may end up staying in the clinic for the day or overnight afterward for monitoring. Owners of donors will not be charged for the collection process and will also receive a credit to their account for future use.
Canine blood donor requirements:
- Age 1 - 9 years
- Over 55 pounds
- Never received a blood transfusion themselves
- In good general health and up to date on vaccinations
- Current Colmey Vet patients only - we need to have up to date health information on file
