Thank you for expressing an interest in becoming a volunteer at The Stables.

Volunteering at The Stables is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and make a real contribution to the running of the organisation. It's also great fun!

In June 2019 the Stablemates were awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK. We are very proud of this achievement!

What type of people are we looking for? Well, our events (mostly in the evenings) are staffed entirely by our volunteers who work very much as a team, so reliability is important. We look for a minimum commitment of 3/4 shifts per month and we like to train volunteers across multiple roles as each type of event creates differing demands, so a flexible approach is also pretty crucial. Some of the roles our volunteers help us with are car parking, waiting in our restaurant, door stewarding and ushering and serving behind the bar (full training given). We also have volunteers who help us with grounds and building maintenance and we are always on the lookout for more!

If this is of interest or you would like to learn a bit more, we would love you to come to our next Open Evening. The evening is split into two sessions. Part 1 will give you a flavour of what to expect and what we expect from you. You’ll be able to meet other volunteers and members of the permanent Stables staff as well as take a tour of the venue. If you’re still interested in becoming a volunteer, then stay for Part 2 of the evening which will involve some introductory training across various roles, including the bar and ushering.
