Board of Director Application
Gentle Spirit Horses Rescue is seeking candidates to join its volunteer Board of Directors. This is an exciting time for growth and expansion for GSH, and this opportunity provides a rewarding and meaningful way to contribute to this vibrant organization and enhance the quality of life of horses in South Dakota.
We would like to get to know you and your skills better. The information you share here will help us select and maintain a Board with diverse skills and experiences.
As an all-volunteer non-profit organization, the Board is meant to be a working board rather than just a managing board. Board members should expect to actively take part in at least one committee and help take on responsibility for one aspect of the management of the organization. For example, a board member currently serves as farrier coordinator. Other options may include assisting with adoptions, intakes, volunteers, fundraising, or outreach/events. Most positions are predominantly virtual and the on-site parts can be handled by other volunteers.
Terms run for two-years from January through December. This application is specially for the 2022-2023 term. Terms are renewable with no term limits.
Meetings are held virtually so you do not need to be based in South Dakota to be considered. We have five-six required meetings annually (quarterly and annual review meeting plus one annual planning meeting), as well as occasional special meetings as needed. Committees meet an average of every other week to monthly depending on needs. In-person attendance at the planning meeting is strongly recommended and we make every attempt to centrally locate it.
Completing this form does not guarantee an appointment to the Board.
