Literary Citizen Award from Hippocampus Magazine - Nominee Form
We're looking for nominations for writers from the creative nonfiction community to consider for the return of our annual literary citizen award. Form closes July 13.

Aside from being active in the CNF world, there is no specific requirement for this award per se; rather, we're looking to elevate and celebrate someone who embodies literary citizenship through and through.

--You may self-nominate
--You may nominate anonymously
--You may nominate more than one person

THE HONOR INCLUDES
Award presentation at HippoCamp 2021 (if able to attend; otherwise, virtually)
-- $250 toward lodging for mini writing retreat
-- $150 toward promotional items for writer's won work
-- $100 cash

OVERVIEW

It’s not enough to just create a venue where writers can publish and share work — to us, it also means supporting our contributors, publishing new voices, and promoting work of other writers through our reviews and interviews and, of course, to interact with people on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

The same could be said for writers in the community — so many writers I know aren’t only focused on their own work and accomplishments: they think of others.

We’re starting a new tradition — a new way to formally recognize members of our extended community for their contributions to literary citizenship — or what Donna T likes to call "LITIZENSHIP."

Each August, we will present the Hippocampus Magazine Literary Citizen of the Year award. There’s the Emmy, the Grammy, the Webby – now there is the LitCi.

The inaugural award was given to Lara Lillibridge in at HippoCamp 2019; the award went on hiatus, along with the conference in 2020.
