The Third Saturday volunteer day begins in the Native Garden that Pie Ranch co-created with the Amah Mutsun Land Trust. Depending on group size, some folks will stay in the garden for the entirety of the work day and some will venture to other projects around the farm.

The types of jobs we do on volunteer days depends on what needs to get done at that point in the season. Volunteers help with planting, weeding, harvests, culling and mulching. There is also maintenance work to be done— cleaning up areas that have been damaged by the wildfire, removing debris, and sometimese even infrastructure improvement or repair. The majority of our volunteer opportunities are hard but gratifying physical labor on the farm. Most jobs require heavy lifting, squatting and bending, lots of walking and a full day out in the sun, wind, or other coastal weather.

Be ready for your volunteer shift by bringing the following gear with you to Pie Ranch:

We at Pie Ranch do our best to provide you with all the things you need to feel comfortable and safe. Upon arrival at the volunteer station volunteers are given waivers to sign, offered work gloves, and are provided a snack and water station to stay hydrated and fueled.

Consider planning ahead, bringing a change of clothes, and staying for our Barn Dance !
