Casting Call: The Magician
Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the short film "The Magician"!

  • This short film is directed by Maryam K. Hedayat, and will provide the basis for a feature later on. 
  • Main shooting will take place between 25th and 31st July 2023 in Belgium
  • This is a paid opportunity. Supporting actors need to be based in Belgium.

Short synopsis:
"The Magician" tells the story of Dara, a young Iranian man, who starts a theatre company in an asylum centre in Belgium.

Dari & Farsi Supporting Roles:

  • Salar & Osama (18-25), Afghani/Kurdish man, speak Farsi/Dari
  • Amir (18-25), Iranian man, speaks Farsi
  • Teacher (35-50), any gender, speaks Dari

Flemish Supporting Roles:

  • Arne & Reiner (25-35), man, speak Flemish
  • Rolf (35-45), man, speaks Flemish

Ukrainian Supporting Roles:

  • Ukrainian Boy & Girl (5-10), any gender, speak Ukrainian
  • Ukrainian Man (30-40), speaks Ukrainian 

Other Supporting Roles:

  • Aadan, (18-25), Somalian man, speaks English
  • North-African (28), woman, wearing hijab, speaks French
  • Shopkeeper(35-50), woman, speaks Urdu
