“The Bear” Nature Walk will take place on Saturday, September 24 at 9 AM. Many aspects of nature featured in this tale of loss, grief and discovery will be discussed. Participants will meet at the pavilion at Scenic Vista Park on Wayne Bridge Road.
The walk will be led by Eileen Dray-Bardon, an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist and member of the County Park District Board of Commissioners, and Lisbon Mayor Peter Wilson, an expert in local birds and bird calls and past program coordinator for the County Park District.
Participants will be informed on the characteristics and habits of ursus americanus (the black bear). You will have the opportunity to touch an actual black bear pelt and bear skulls. Other animals mentioned in the book will be discussed as well as many of the plants featured in this work. The walk will cover approximately 1 mile of moderately rugged terrain during which you will be asked to “discover” what you can along the route. Dray-Bardon and Wilson will assist you in identifying your discoveries.
Water and energy bars will be provided.
Please complete this form by Thursday, September 22nd so we can prepare adequate materials for the hike.
