Voluntary First Nations, Métis & Inuit                   Self-Identification
School Boards throughout Ontario are inviting Status or Non-Status First Nation, Métis, Inuit (FNMI) students and their families to tell them, voluntarily and confidentially, if they are of Indigenous descent. This is part of a larger, long-term initiative to improve understanding and appreciation of First Nation, Métis, Inuit, histories, cultures and perspectives by all members of school communities.

The self-identification process allows us to ensure that we are providing appropriate program options for all of our students. We can best meet academic and programming needs of our students when we can monitor their progress and celebrate their successes.
