Matariki 2020
The tradition of celebrating matariki at Ao Tawhiti began many years ago as a way for our awesome community to come together. As well as welcoming the Māori new year with kai, waiata and performances, it is a time for parents to run and take part in workshops, make food, decorate our school and really get involved.
Matariki is a little late this year - the event itself happens during the school holidays - so please come and join us on Friday 24 July from 3.30 and help us have a great time.

The celebration will begin with soup for afternoon tea and workshops & performances between 3.30 and 5.30. At 6.00 we invite families to bring their own food or shared finger food (there is NO CROCKERY OR CUTLERY at school). After dinner there will be a short lantern parade and the performances will continue.
We are hoping to unveil the Ao Tawhiti stones and are looking for some help with the plinths for these.
At this stage we are organising to use the hangi at Avebury House. We need helpers for this too!
Please complete the form below if you would like to run a workshop or help in other ways. This awesome event would not be as wonderful as it is without you!
