In order for our organization to continue to thrive, we need volunteers to serve on committees. Please let us know which one interests you. *

Finance Committee – keep track of the organization’s assets and liabilities. The committee prepares the annual budget and makes recommendations to the board. The financial report appears on all board meeting agendas and the finance committee should be prepared to answer questions about it. The finance committee may also oversee the work of employees, endowments and other significant financial assets, investment strategies and tax strategies. All members should have some degree of financial expertise.

Development/Fundraising Committee – coordinates events like galas, silent auctions, raffles, and other events with the main goal of raising money for the organization. Fundraising committees also seek out opportunities for gaining corporate sponsors, philanthropists, large donors, grants and endowments, as well as other ways of generating funds for the organization.

Curriculum Committee – responsible for overseeing and updating the curriculum for both the middle school chapters and the alumni chapters. Reviewing each on a yearly basis or as needed.

Mentor Retention and Recruiting Committee – create strategies to keep current mentors in place and bring on additional mentors. The board may set some strategic goals for this committee, such as gaining a certain number of new mentors each year, as we grow our chapter footprint. Responsible for making sure all mentors are properly welcomed and receive the proper training.

Social Media/Marketing/Communications/Technology Committee – create awareness of the good work that nonprofits do by creating marketing campaigns, promoting events, creating advertising and posting on social media platforms. Manage all printed publications, such as brochures, flyers, leaflets and whitepapers. This committee may also help manage the website. Acts as organization’s spokesperson with the board chair.

Governance Committee – handles everything related to board performance, recruiting new members, training new members, determining board composition and creating board materials.
