ITC Youth Application- Field Director
Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Field Director position at Illinois Turner Camp. The Youth Committee looks to hire an enthusiastic and responsible Field Director with strong leadership and communication skills.  To assure the health and safety of employees and campers, all hired staff are subject to drug testing.  Listed below are the expectations of the Field Director:

-Guide counselors in handling daily camp activities, like managing campers' behaviors and actions, teaching rules and regulations of various sports and games, organizing small and large group crafts, and maintaining clean and safe facilities at Illinois Turner Camp.  

-Plan and carry out daily activities during morning program hours (Monday-Friday; 9:00AM-12:00PM).

-Promote and assist after program activities, like Monday night movie and Wednesday night campfire.

-Initiate enthusiasm amongst colleagues and campers.

-Arrange purposeful Youth Camp field trip(s).

-Administer important paperwork, like camper insurance forms, field trip permission slips, camper awards and certificates, and counselor midsummer and final reviews.

-Communicate important dates, times, themes, and activities to parents and guardians of campers.

-Establish positive relationships with campers, counselors, and parents.

-Resolve simple public complaints in matters related to the field program and refer all other complaints to the Youth Committee.

-Maintain clean and safe facilities at Illinois Turner Camp.

-Provide emergency care to campers during program hours.

-Maintain constant surveillance of patrons while on the field or at the pool.

-Act immediately and appropriately to assure safety of all Turners in the event of an emergency while on duty.


The tentative start date of employment is Saturday, June 1st, 2024 and the end date is Monday, September 2nd, 2024. All program directors are expected to participate in a mandatory training program prior to the start date of employment.  
 
Applicants must be 18 years of age prior to June 1, 2024. In addition, all hired staff must show proof of the following certifications prior to their start date:
 
                American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Certification
American Red Cross (ARC) First Aid Certification/CPR  
                American Red Cross (ARC) CPR/AED

*** Field Director applicants must submit a one week rough draft of field activities (morning rotations, afternoon and evening activities) and a one week rough draft of rain day activities.    You can email them to Nicole @ nrsandine@gmail.com.  Remember that Program runs from 9:00am-12:00pm.   Your plans should be broken down by times.
