The CICo focuses on visioning and organizing Earthdance's CI seasonal jam programming with guidance and oversight from the Earthdance Executive Director and in collaboration with Earthdance staff the Accountability, Safety, and Care Team. Its focus is to strengthen and develop dance and somatic inquiry, especially in the form of Contact Improvisation. Creating safer, inclusive, and diverse jam container are responsibilities and values of this team.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the main CICo Support Person for at least one seasonal jam per year which includes securing and orienting hosts for the seasonal jam, organizing the prep and pre/post meetings for the jam, and attending the event.
- Support the hosts during the jam by assisting in: the opening and closing circles; curating the schedule; supporting the flow and safety of the jam.
- Ideally, the commitment is of 3 yrs of service with a minimum of 1
- Be an ambassador to Earthdance’s mission and values by: Attending Consent & Boundary training offered by ED on an annual basis; Acting in inclusive and respectful ways during the jam; Actively engage in expanding diverse pool for jam hosts and participants

The aim is to create a team that embodies diverse lived experiences and a range of skills and CI leadership background. We understand that diverse teams are part of what create environments where
more people feel seen. The following skills are vital to hold as a group:
- Dedication to and practice of Contact Improvisation
- Leadership background and skills
- A network of CI dancers/teachers and ability to secure suitable hosts for jams
- Ability to practice prompt and professional communication
- Practices and Awareness of: consent and boundary, conflict transformation, anti-oppression, accessibility knowledge
- Geographical location - currently the team is looking for people who are coming from communities outside the Earthdance area- including but not limited to these areas: New York City, Montreal, Boston, and Toronto.
In recognition and appreciation of this labor, for each event you coordinate in the role, you receive free participation in that event as well as Earthdance Credit (amount depends on jam supported) to attend Earthdance programming.
