2021 Championships
2021 Championships are shaping up to be very different from previous years and we want to make sure you all have a voice in how it's handled. This form will help your Wahoos Board move forward in decision-making within our division.
How it used to be: Prelims were open to everyone who wanted to swim. Swimmers can try their hands at 3 events. It is held over 2 weekdays, with certain age groups going each day. The Top 16 times from Prelims are eligible to swim in Championships in the events in which they made the Top 16. For this year, Prelims would have been held the week of July 12th for two days, culminating in a Championship meet on July 17th.
How it proposed for 2021: Prelims and Championships will be held at the same time. There will NOT be an additional Championship meet on July 17th. Instead, the week of July 12th will hold 5 meets with one age group swimming each day at Smokey Hill High School. Parents will be allowed in the pool area to watch ONLY the event their child is swimming in and then must return to the team staging area (each team will get an area in the school to hang out in between races).
Monday, July 12 - 8 & Under
Tuesday, July 13 - 11-12
Wednesday, July 14 - 15-18
Thursday, July 15 - 13-14
Friday, July 16 - 9-10
Those that place Top 8, will get ribbons/awards.
*please note, participating in these post-regular season meets require parent volunteering and the shifts are in addition to the regular season requirements.
