Subfertility and Perimenopause - Exploring the connection.
Subfertility due to low ovarian reserve or "ovarian ageing" is an increasingly common clinical diagnosis
So too is Perimenopause.
The two share a parallel physiological origin. Yet this is poorly understood,  uncommonly discussed and rarely proactively treated.
I am undertaking a Quality Improvement project to assess public and clinician understanding and awareness of this issue in the hope of improving proactive identification of perimenopause in patients trying to conceive or going through assisted conception so that management may be tailored accordingly and difficult perimenopausal post-natal outcomes might be avoided.
Pleas complete the very brief questionnaire below and share widely to anyone else who may be able or willing to provide their input.

Are you aware that Perimenopause and subfertility may have a common biological origin and thus often co-exist?

Do you think clinicians should discuss the potential for co-existent perimenopause or early menopause in patients with subfertility, infertility or who require assisted conception techniques (e.g. IVF)? *
If you had been made aware of the relationship between subfertility and earlier onset perimenopause and menopause might you have sought advice about your medical treatment options sooner? *
Do you think more research in this area would be helpful? *
Do you feel it is important to raise awareness around this topic? *
What age bracket are you in ?
