2024 Nile C. Kinnick Scholarship Application

Now in its 28th year, The Nile C. Kinnick Scholarship aims to reward incoming, first-year University of Iowa students who exemplify the values of Iowa legend Nile Kinnick: Integrity, Discipline, and Service to others. Individuals like yourself with outstanding high school careers are encouraged to apply for up to $20,000 in scholarship.

The scholarship is named after Nile Kinnick, Iowa’s lone Heisman Trophy winner, student body president, and an alumni of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. Please complete this application in its entirety to be considered.

Nile C. Kinnick was a student, athlete, lawyer, and politician best known for his accomplishments on the gridiron, as well as a scholar and student-body president on campus. Nile chose to forgo a career in the NFL to attend law school and became a naval aviator when his name was called to serve in WW2, where he made the ultimate sacrifice. Nile was known for many things, integrity, hard work, sportsmanship, leadership, service to his community, intellectual curiosity, and his patriotism.
