GEGSLA Public Consultation: Critical Issues on the Recommended Framework and Key Elements for Peaceful and Sustainable Lunar Activities
Starting from June 1st 2022, the Global Expert Group on Sustainable Lunar Activities (GEGSLA) will begin an external consultation phase to gather feedback on some of the most controversial points of the Recommended Framework and Key Elements for Peaceful and Sustainable Lunar Activities.

This questionnaire will remain open for two months, from June 1st to July 31, 2022.

All of the stakeholders in Lunar activities are kindly invited to provide their comments to facilitate creating a document representing a common level playing field for the future of lunar activities.

The questionnaire is anonymous, but you are welcome to provide your email address if you wish to receive more information on GEGSLA in the future.

Please note that answering all questions is not needed - you can only answer those most critical to you.

There are over 100 places on the Moon where, since 1959, cultural heritage sites have been created by human activity, such as probes, rovers and crewed landing sites. There are also locations that represent specific, rare or unique aspects of the lunar environment, such as places that demonstrate the Moon's evolution or distinct landscape types. What obligations should an internationally endorsed list of cultural and natural heritage places create for lunar operators?
What indicators or metrics can be used to assess whether a lunar resource, such as water ice, is at risk of becoming overused or depleted? An example is estimating the percentage of a resource which remains after a lunar activity has been completed. Are there practices in other domains that should be applied to the Moon? Please provide some examples:
International treaties and guidelines related to lunar activities include the Outer Space Treaty 1967, Rescue Agreement 1968, Liability Convention 1972, Registration Convention 1975, Moon Agreement 1979, the Constitution and the Radio Regulations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Guidelines for the Long-Term Sustainability of Space Activities 2019, Space Debris Mitigation Guidelines of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space 2007, Safety Framework for Nuclear Power Source Applications in Outer Space 2009, Artemis Accords 2019, The Hague International Space Resources Governance Working Group Building Blocks for the Development of An International Framework 2019, the MVA Best Practises, and  the Vancouver Recommendations on Space Mining 2020.  Are there any additional relevant international agreements, principles, and/or guidelines that should be included in the GEGSLA Key Principles and Framework?
