By popular demand, we are organizing another Civil Rights Journey to Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma, and Birmingham for November 17-20, 2022.
In November 2019, 79 congregants shared this inspirational and informative trip to explore not only the poignant history of the Civil Rights Movement but also the continuing legacy of slavery, Reconstruction, Jim Crow, and mass incarceration today. The journey includes visits to the Rosa Parks Museum, Equal Justice Initiative’s Legacy Museum and Lynching Memorial, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, and the King Center among other highlights. We will attend Shabbat services at Montgomery’s Temple Beth Or and Sunday morning services at MLK’s Ebenezer Baptist Church.
The trip is coordinated by ETGAR 36 (
etgar.org), an Atlanta-based firm that specializes in Civil Rights tours for synagogues and Jewish youth groups. Our tour is designed to accommodate one busload of up to 50 people. The price is predicated on a group size of 25-50 people. (The trip will be scheduled if we reach a threshold of 25 congregants!) The Civil Rights weekend trip costs $995 per person for a double occupancy room. Please add
$275 for a single room supplement. The trip includes all meals (beginning with Friday morning breakfast and ending with Sunday morning breakfast—in total 7 meals); all ground transportation, hotels, admission and programming costs. It does not include transportation to and from Atlanta.
Please complete a registration form for EACH traveler so we have contact information for everyone. There is a line to indicate your companion if you are sharing a room. Deposits are due by August 5, 2022 with full payment by September 9, 2022. Please make checks payable to ETGAR 36 (with “TBE Nov 17-20 Trip” in the memo line) and return to Lynn Burke at TBE.
