Hello!
Thank you for visiting my survey website about attitudes, experiences, needs and preferences of African American young adults for a church-based mental health program. My name is Courtney Miller and I am working with my doctoral supervisor, Dr. Katie McGovern, at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA.
This is an anonymous survey. I will not collect any identifying information from you. All data from this project is confidential and will be used for research purposes only. Participation in this study will require approximately 15-25 minutes of your time and is completely voluntary. You may withdraw from the study at any time without penalty.
Just so you know:
You will be asked to complete a short questionnaire about you and your background. Afterward, you will be presented with questions about:
-Your attitudes towards seeking mental health
-Your experiences with mental health or someone else’s experience who is close to you.
-Your needs that you have regarding mental health
-Your preferences that you would have for a church based mental health program.
It is unlikely that you will feel any discomfort in responding to the questionnaire items. This study contains minimal risk, however, if you feel distress, please feel free to withdraw from participation at any point in this study.
You may participate if you are:
-Between the ages of 18 to 35 years
-Identify as having African/Black heritage
-Identify as Christian
-Attend a Christian church
-Must have:
a. Sought or considered seeking mental health support from a pastor within a church or know someone close who has OR
b. Sought or considered seeking mental health support from another professional source
For participation in this study, you may choose to enter into a raffle drawing for one of four $25 Amazon gift cards. If you would like to be entered in the raffle, please provide an email address at the end of the survey.
