As part of the Metro D.C. Synod Leadership Academy the Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Relations Committee is presenting a three part series on being "One in the Spirit".

SESSION 1: June 2nd at 7 PM - The first “One in the Spirit” Zoom event will feature presenters from different ecumenical backgrounds and offer time for people (rostered and lay) from different spiritual traditions and denominations to share their encounters with God through scripture, prayer, and discussion. The goal is to listen to one another’s stories and build relationships across denominations and spiritual traditions. We will begin with a prayer practice to center our time together and hear how God has shown up in some surprising places/people for our presenters. We’ll then have some time to reflect together on what we heard in breakout rooms.

SESSION 2: July 7th at 7 PM - The second “One in the Spirit” Zoom event will invite and encourage participation from different ecumenical backgrounds. We will offer time for people (rostered and lay) from different spiritual traditions and denominations to share their encounters with God through scripture, prayer, and discussion.  Again, the goal is to listen to one another’s stories and build relationships across denominations and spiritual traditions.  The event will begin with a prayer practice, and then move participants into breakout rooms where each participant will have the opportunity to share their encounters with God.  The large group will re-convene at the end of the event to reflect together on what we heard in breakout rooms.

SESSION 3: August 11th at 7 PM - Details of the final Zoom event will be fine tuned in early August, but it will be an opportunity for those who participated in either/both of the earlier Zooms and/or the retreat to reflect on ecumenical unity and consider how the Spirit might be nurturing deeper oneness in Christ.
