Hi everyone! During the Easter break we will be having a Citywise Spring Camp. The theme is 'Science and Growth Mindset.'
Where: The Citywise Centre (6 Oxford Place, M14 5RZ)
***It is always ideal if you attend the whole camp but if you are only able to volunteer some days or can only do mornings or just afternoons (for example), we might be able to be flexible about. If you think this is the case, please get in touch/write a comment bellow and still say that you are 'Available'.***
What we want the children to understand - Growth Mindset is…:- Not just bodies grow, but brains/minds too, with things we learn, do and experience, always doing, experiencing and learning, our minds grow as we do this
- Our minds/brains grow and change, so how we think about/see things also can change, your perspective/outlook on something or a situation can change over time with experiences/doing
- Brain like a muscle, grows with experiences and doing/trying hard things and challenges, making mistakes is part of this process
And in this camp we will be helping children understand this through really fun science activities prepared by the staff!
Your role as a mentor:
- Be a character example to the children (be enthusiastic, participate in all activities, smile, be kind, and keep in mind everyone’s safety).
- Lead the sessions and activities - you will have access to in advance to all instructions and the support of staff whenever you need.
- During breaks: supervise and engage with the children.
- Safeguard the children at all times and report any incidents/concerns to the Project Leader.
- Keep session materials and sports equipment tidy.
