Higher Education for AB 540 Students (HEFAS) is the Undocumented Resource Center at De Anza College, we host the UndocuSOL trainings, previously know as "UndocuAlly" for the last 5 years.
What is UndocuSOL?
UndocuSOL stands for Undocumented Solidarity, we are a group of staff and faculty at De Anza College who have received extensive training. These trainers volunteer to train our colleagues how to be an ally to undocumented students and the larger community.
About UndocuSOL Training:
The purpose of this 2-part workshop series is to develop a network of informed, caring, culturally aware staff, faculty and administrative allies to support De Anza’s undocumented student population.
Participants will:
•Gain a contextualized understanding to the current immigration climate
•Learn about local, state and federal immigration policies, and explore how those policies impact
De Anza students.
•Commit to engaging in solidarity for undocumented people by distinguishing immigrant inclusive language, adopting inclusive practices, and becoming familiar to resources on campus.
•Receive 4 hours of a PGA credit upon completion of both workshops (2 hours per workshop)
•Certificate and decal to post on your office door or other space visible to students.
•A training -digital- folder with information and resources they can use to provide information and guidance to students, as well as build to their own knowledge and awareness about immigration, policy and available resources.
