Join the CU Motorsport Fans Society!
Our formal name is the "The Cambridge University Motorsport Fans Society", but we like to call ourselves the Motorsport Fans Soc :) We are a highly welcoming and relaxed group of motorsports, ranging from those who started watching as kids to those who got interested during lockdown!

We run watch parties (usually hosted in a JCR, College bar, or pub - check the term card for more info), but more generally we also run general meetups and are looking forward to career and general interest talks from industry insiders soon!

We have to give you some semi-formal info before you join, but the gist is:

- There is no minimum time commitment to join the Society: you can chat with us on WhatsApp if you want, or get involved with our Social Media team and the running of the Society! All contributions big and small are appreciated :)

- We have no membership fee at present. We may ask for contributions if you attend an event, etc. but we mostly decide if and when. It is important to note that a 'General Meeting' of our members may agree to adopt a membership fee, and you will receive a month's notice before any fees go into effect. There are no current plans to adopt fees though!

- We ask that you follow a Code of Conduct as a member, you can find more details later in the form, but the overarching principle is be nice and help us create a welcoming group for all :)

- If you have any concerns or questions about this form, or the Society in general, you can contact our President Sophie (ssc41) or our Secretary Hader (mha42) to raise them, either informally or formally.

Your personal information will not be shared with any third parties, except where we are required to do so by the University, the Cambridge Students' Union, or where the Committee reasonably believes there may be a compelling wellbeing reason to do so. We will use your CRSid to contact you with Society information from time to time, your name in emails and during General Meetings to check your membership, your pronouns in our communications with you unless you do not provide them [in which case we will use they/them], and your current student status to ensure that only current students are members of the Society. We will retain this information for up to three years, after which we will assume your membership of the Society has lapsed (you will be emailed to that effect, and may tell us otherwise). As of October 2021 we also collect the year you will leave the University, which we use in place of the three year period described above. If you filled in this form before then, we will assume your membership for three years from when you filled in the form. We will use the year you submitted to end your membership automatically unless you tell us otherwise. You may contact the Secretary at any time to resign your membership and ask for your data to be deleted, or request the information we hold on you. If you have any questions about how we handle your data or your rights, you may contact the Secretary.
