Program Internship Application
Are you interested in being a Hillel Program Intern? The program interns create and develop programs while building relationships and connecting students to Jewish life in a way that is personally relevant and meaningful.

Program Internship Positions Include:

Jewish Education Intern:
Create programs that are focused on Jewish education. This can include programs about Jewish history, Judaism 101, Interfaith programming, Jewish book club, Shabbat Shipels Podcast, etc.

Special Events Intern:
Create and work on programs that are, in general, one-time, large events. This can include Shabbat 300, ShAG, Mental Health Shabbat, holiday programming, movie nights, Hoogim, etc. “Fill in the Gaps” to ensure an ever-increasing number of students feel welcome and valued.

Tikkun Olam Intern:
Create programs that are focused on Tikkun Olam, Repairing the World. This can include programs about hunger, volunteering opportunities, educational programs surrounding the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam, etc.

Jewish Life (religious & cultural) Intern:
Create programs that are focused on religious & cultural education. This can include Jewish cooking classes, Torah study, Jewish holiday social/educational programs, Friday night services, a Shabbaton, etc.

Israel Education Intern:
Create programs that are focused on Israeli culture/education. This can include educational programs, social programs, and/or large-scale Israel programming.

Peer Mentorship Intern:
Sustain and create new initiatives for ChutzPals, the BJC mentorship program between first years and upperclassman and upperclassman and alumni.

Marketing & Communications Intern
Work alongside Development Director Danielle to put together monthly donor and stakeholder communications, coordinate and organize social media alongside the social media intern for fundraising appeals, and help with community outreach surrounding holidays. The Marketing and Communications Intern will also coordinate with programming interns to collect stories, photos, and video from events

All Interns are expected to:
- Attend bi-monthly meetings with the Springboard Innovation Fellow, Annie
- Attend bi-monthly team training sessions with the programmatic internship cohort
- Build one-on-one relationships with a minimum of 10 Jewish peers per year and connect them to opportunities that match expressed interests
- Serve as a personal connection to the Jewish community at UVA
- Design innovative programs for the Jewish community at UVA by submitting the Brody Jewish Center program sheet to the advisory board
- Track, manage and update information about event attendance and student interactions on an online web tool
- Attend the JLC leadership conference tentatively on August 18-19, 2021

- The social networker among their peers, connecting new friends to one another and making everyone feel welcome
- Motivated to take initiative and ensure follow through
- Organized and demonstrate time management
- Passionate about developing programs for the Jewish community at UVA
- Open to learning about innovation, design thinking, and engagement
- Willing to step out of their comfort zone and try new things

An Internship with Hillel Provides:

- Transferable skills related to budget management, relationship building, community development, customer service, project management, and communication

- Supervision/mentorship with a Hillel professional
- Resources to design, implement and facilitate your own programmatic vision
