Breakout Session | NeMTSS Summit Call for Proposals

The 2024 Nebraska MTSS Summit theme is "Super Systems for Success." NeMTSS, in partnership with Nebraska Department of Education’s Office of Special Education and Office of Coordinated Student Support Services, will host the summit Sept. 26 and 27 in Kearney, Nebraska. The event will focus on four key strands: school safety, behavior, multi-tiered systems of support, and foundational literacy. Keynote and breakout sessions aim to foster synergy among these strands within a strong school system, providing educators with opportunities to enhance their "superpowers" for systematically promoting inclusive practices and supporting efforts to improve outcomes for all students.

We welcome submissions for 60-minute presentations that align with the summit’s four strands (details outlined below) and are of interest to a Nebraska audience.

Further information about the four strands:
  • School safety presentations will relate to:
    * Providing guidance and support to schools to prevent, prepare, respond, and recover from incidents that impact the safety and security of students and staff. More information can be found on the Nebraska School Safety office’s website.
  • Behavior presentations will relate to:
    * Strategies to teach, promote, and reinforce positive behavior within a multi-tiered system of support.
  • Multi-tiered systems of support presentations will relate to:
    * Systems development, including infrastructure and shared leadership, collaboration and communication, layered continuum of supports, and data-based decision-making.
  • Foundational literacy presentations will relate to:
    * High-quality foundational literacy instruction anchored in the most current research that supports achievement of literacy proficiency for ALL students.
    * Support for, and implementation of, evidence-based literacy instruction across a multi-tiered system including the use of a data-based problem solving process.
The NeMTSS Framework may also be referenced to help personalize your proposed presentation to our audience.

Presentation Requirements:

  • Presentations must be focused on current work in education and any research or data cited should be up to date and aligned with Nebraska State Education Standards.
  • Presentations must include a specific focus on Nebraska schools, PK-12, including work at the district, school, program or ESU level to support PK-12 schools.
