Important Information
Dear parent/guardian,

CYP are excited to announce their summer 2022 programme with a range of activities on offer. The programme is open to any young person from P6 to S3 (based on new school year after summer - meaning current P5 are eligible to sign up). Please note that young people must live or attend school in the McLaren High catchment area in order to participate.

Thanks to funding from People’s Postcode Lottery and The Souter Trust, every session on this programme will be free to sign up for. There are limited spaces available for each session therefore we will open the sign-up window until the evening of Tuesday 14th June (after the last youth club session of term) before randomly allocating spaces based on drawing names – we hope this gives everyone a fair chance of involvement.

Young people should only sign up for sessions they are interested in – there’s no requirement to sign up for the entire block. A waiting list will be created in the event that demand exceeds availability.

TUESDAY 5TH JULY: INFLATABLE PARK & BOWLING (10AM – 3PM)
Meet at CYP where transport will be provided to AirThrill inflatable park in Perth. Take on the inflatable obstacles courses, slides, warrior wall, air mountain, wipe out and more before a hot dog lunch then some ten-pin bowling.
Consent: By signing up to this activity, you understand that participation at AirThrill carries a risk of physical injury from falls or collisions. To help minimise this, young people must follow the guidance of centre staff at all times. A waiver will be consented to on behalf of the young person participating.

THURSDAY 7TH JULY: COOK WITH CYP (10.30AM – 12.30PM & 2PM – 4PM)
Cook up a storm and learn new kitchen skills and recipes. Th best part is trying the tasty homemade food at the end! Please note that you will only be allocated to either the morning or afternoon session on cooking days – not both.

TUESDAY 19TH JULY: COOK WITH CYP (10.30AM – 12.30PM & 2PM – 4PM)
Perfect your cooking skills with another fun cooking session at CYP! Please note that you will only be allocated to either the morning or afternoon session on cooking days – not both.

THURSDAY 21ST JULY: GORGE WALKING (10AM-2.30PM)
Meet at CYP where we will be transported and led by the outdoor team at Active Stirling on a gorge walking adventure! Safety equipment will be provided but a decent level of confidence in water will be required. Participation in this activity will also require the completion of a separate consent and medical form provided by Active Stirling.
Consent: Gorge walking brings certain inherent risks, including injuries from falls, exposure to adverse weather and water-based risks (e.g. drowning, cold water shock). The entire activity will be supervised by qualified staff from Active Stirling’s outdoors team and all participants must make sure to follow their guidance at all times, as well as wearing the recommended clothing and all relevant safety equipment (provided). A waiver will be consented to on behalf of the young person participating.

TUESDAY 26TH JULY: KICK N FLIP (10.30AM – 6PM)
Meet at CYP for an action-packed day where we will firstly be transported to Toryglen football centre for some games with prizes up for grabs! Time to enjoy a packed lunch before we take a tour of Hampden Park – the national football stadium and home to previous Olympic and Commonwealth games. Finish the day with a bounce at Flip Out trampoline park!
Consent: By signing up to this activity, you understand that participation at FlipOut carries a risk of physical injury from falls or collisions. Young people must follow the guidance of centre staff at all times. A waiver will be consented to on behalf of the young person participating.

TUESDAY 9TH AUGUST: TREEZONE (8.45AM – 4PM)
Meet at CYP where we will be transported to Treezone to take on the aerial adventure course! A good head for heights will be required with balance beams, tight ropes, zipwires and more to overcome. After an adrenalin fuelled morning, a chilled lunch on the shores of Loch Lomond before a visit to the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey centre to round off the day.
Consent: The aerial assault course at TreeZone carries the risk of physical injuries from falls or equipment failures. Young people must follow the guidance of staff at all times, including safe use of the safety equipment provided (e.g. harnesses) and following the other centre rules. A waiver will be consented to on behalf of the young person participating.

THURSDAY 11TH AUGUST: BBQ (12PM – 2PM)
End of summer party at CYP with games and food!

All activities on offer (as well as transport to venues) have varying levels of inherent risk, including injury to participants. For the higher risk activities in this programme, the key risks have been specified above. However, all participants in all sessions are expected to follow instructions provided by both CYP staff and session leaders, in order to minimise risk. This will include wearing all appropriate safety equipment (where required) and following the rules and procedures put in place by the session lead. Appropriate clothing will be also required for each session - prior to each session, you will receive an email detailing the arrangements for the activity, as well as a reminder of any clothing requirements or similar.

Any young person failing to follow instructions may be asked to leave the session early and may be removed from future sessions. Sessions may be postponed or cancelled in the event of adverse weather – this decision will remain at the discretion of CYP staff and activity instructors.

Given the varied nature of activities, we would request that you contact us if you have any concerns about your child’s ability to participate in any given session or about the impact of any pre-existing medical conditions (including allergies). Where appropriate, we would also recommend seeking advice from your GP.

Coach hire companies have been organised to transport the group to set locations for some of the activities. Face masks may be mandatory depending on government guidance at the time. Ventilation and social distancing safety measures may also be in place.
