Serve on the BIA Disaster Relief Volunteer Group
In the aftermath of a Hurricane, Broadmoor Improvement Association would like to resume operations to support our community. The BIA needs individuals to come along side us! The BIA will organize volunteer crews to help residents who need support by providing the following: disaster relief supplies, tools from the Tool Lending Library, and food from our Broadmoor Food Pantry and Community Gardens.

The BIA is managed by Co-Directors and a Board of Commissioners. The Board consists of 12 members, 9 of whom are elected from the 3 subgroups of Broadmoor (see map above). The other 3 members are appointed based on the expertise they bring to the organization.

The BIA is actively seeking residents to serve on the Board of Commissioners from all 3 subgroups of Broadmoor. If you're interested in joining the Board, one of our current board members will reach out to discuss the commitment further. We look forward to connecting with you!

Volunteer Opportunities in Broadmoor
- The Broadmoor Food Pantry provides emergency food assistance to an average of 500 families every month, in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank and the Broadmoor Community Church. Pantry volunteer shifts are Tuesdays from 8 am–12 pm and Wednesdays from 12–3 pm at 2021 S. Dupre Street. There are also seasonal opportunities to volunteer, including special holiday events like the Thanksgiving turkey giveaway. 

- The Broadmoor Community Gardens help to mitigate flooding in the neighborhood and combat food insecurity in New Orleans by growing fresh produce with our neighbors. Learn how to grow and harvest food while also helping to cultivate a beautiful green space for all residents to enjoy. Weekly schedule varies by season. 

- Broadmoor Service Days are opportunities to beautify the neighborhood through gardening, cleaning up litter, cleaning catch basins, and canvassing the neighborhood. Service days are announced periodically throughout the year and are typically held on Saturday mornings.

- Broadmoor Fundraisers are social events for neighborhood residents to come together to support the BIA's wellness programming while celebrating our strengths as a community. Yearly fundraisers include Give NOLA Day, SPRINGmoor, Trick or TREATmoor, and Evergreen. Volunteers support these events with event day setup, operations, and cleanup.
