Because managing this class has been more taxing than I expected, I'm considering alternative ways of conducting the class. Some of this is about getting students who missed a class session up to speed on what happened there. Some of this is on getting students to do their out-of-class work more in rhythm with what is expected as articulated in the syllabus. And some of this is about whether students perceive some (perhaps most) of the homework as busy work, so aren't learning deeply from those activities.

I go through them carefully and read the entire discussion in the Notes area.

I do the cheat that we were taught in class by searching for the keywords, but otherwise don't read through the discussion.

I skim them quickly and then do the Content Quiz.

I ignore the PowerPoint entirely and do the content quiz based on my current understanding.

Since I often don't do the content quiz, I also often don't look at the PowerPoint.
