The Emergency Planning Society welcomes nominations for new fellows.
The process for achievement of Fellow Status was revised in 2019 to reflect the following: “Fellowship of the society is an honour bestowed upon Emergency Planning Society members in recognition of their outstanding and significant contribution and achievement in emergency planning and resilience and or to the society.”
**The paramount requirement for successful nomination is evidence of outstanding and significant contribution and or achievement within the Emergency Planning Society and or Emergency Planning & Resilience.
Criteria for Nomination
The Board recognises that the assessment of excellence and impact is ultimately a judgement. The assessment committee will make this judgement in the context of the evidence presented, the recommendation of the proposer, past decisions and current policy. The committee will present their recommendations to the Board for final approval.
Please read this carefully before making a nomination
Nominees will have shown evidence of one or more of the following:
• Outstanding and significant contribution to the Emergency Planning Society
• Outstanding and significant contribution to the Community during an emergency
• Outstanding accomplishments in professional career
• Outstanding and significant research within the emergency planning and resilience and emergency field
• Renowned within emergency planning and resilience field in education, learning and development
• A significant contribution to, and/or a strong connection with the vision and mission of the Society.
For nomination to be considered for society fellowship the following will apply:
• The nominee must have an established recognised career, typically this means at least ten years of
professional experience.
• The nominee should be an existing member of the society and continue their membership following
nomination.
• The nominee should be able to provide evidence to support the nomination criteria ie personal
statement or curriculum vitae outlining career path and any significant accomplishments achievements,
relevant to the nomination. The statement should be no longer than 2000** words long.
Role of a Fellow
There is an expectation that Fellows of the society will be willing to undertake the following:
• Promote and profile the work of the society
• Act as ambassador and champion the work of the society
• Act as mentor to students, those new to resilience or any other member of the society
• Contribute to relevant projects undertaken on behalf of the society
• Partcipate in relevant research, collaborations on behalf of the society
• Chair relevant groups
• Be willing to be a member of investigation or discipline committees
• Participate or contribute/ support the membership nomination and assessment process for fellowship
in either an advisory, assessor, mentor capacity
Nomination Process
• Nomination for Fellow status can be made by individual members, branches, Professional Working
Groups (PWG'S), committee's, board or any other relevant group.
• Members can also nominate themselves

Completed by the nominator/s
Form B (Nominee Supporting Information)
Completed by the person being nominated
Form C (The supporting reference form) (2 x Form C for those self nominating)
Completed by member or colleague
Form D (Endorsement)
Completed by a Fellow .
Referees should not also be nominators.
Summary
• For nominations made by branches, committees, PWG's, board or any other recognised EPS
group the following forms should be provided. Form A, Form B , Form C, Form D
• For individuals who are self nominating Form A, 2 x Form C, Form D
Selection Process
Once submitted the nomination, statement, support references and endorsement will be assessed by the assessment team and presented to board for approval.
If a submitted application is incomplete or if the nominee is not felt to have achieved the required criteria for the fellow award then the nominators will be notified and the original documentation made available for edits with feedback as far as the areas that require additional information. The nomination can then be re-submitted.
The Director of Professional Standards and Learning will have final say on any disputes based on the evidence provided and may request an interview if deemed necessary.
Successful applicants will be presented with their Fellow certificate at the AGM/Annual Conference.
Successful applicants can use the post-nominals FEPS.
* Endorsement will be undertaken by fellows who will decide whether to endorse the nomination based on the evidence presented, recommendation of the nominator and current policy for nomination.
