Volunteer Registration: July 17, Gantry Paddling

The general public is NOT required to register for this event. This is a registration form for those who wish to volunteer with HarborLAB at Gantry Plaza State Park on July 17 to provide free kayaking to the general public in celebration of City of Water Day. Please note that there are two shifts. Volunteers should give relief breaks to those kind enough to work two shifts.

What volunteer positions during Shift 1 (11am-2pm) interest you? Check more than one. ALL volunteers help with set up. Do NOT show up at 11am for just the paddling program.

Registration and education table (distributing literature, ensuring waivers are signed, ensuring participants have their hands marked and are in a state suitable for safe kayaking).

Life vest fitter (checking that life vests are fully clipped and snug, ensuring participants have their hands marked and are in a state suitable for safe kayaking).

Line manager (maintaining order and fairness, ensuring participants have their hands marked and are in a state suitable for safe kayaking).

Dock (helping participants in and out of boats, keeping a safety watch, ensuring participants have their hands marked and are in a state suitable for safe kayaking).

Safety Patrol (keeping participants from straying out of the buoy line and embayment or into rocks and pilings, ensuring participants are in a state suitable for safe kayaking, giving paddling tips, towing and rescuing when needed, sometimes taking on an inexperienced paddler as a partner while others maintain the perimeter).

What volunteer positions during Shift 2 (2pm-5pm) interest you? Check more than one. ALL volunteers help with pack away. Do NOT leave when the paddling program ends. Work with fellow volunteers until the pack away is complete.
