CRAFT YOUTH CULTURE 2022-23 INFORMATION + APPLICATION
We invite all Los Angeles based teens to apply to our 2022-2023 program! Craft Youth Culture is Craft Contemporary's free teen program designed to give high school students an opportunity to develop their creativity, work with professional artists, engage in critical discussion around art, and connect and share with other teens. This fall, participating teens will join a visiting artist for weekly workshops exploring hands-on crafting techniques and materials, current exhibitions, and careers in the arts. Don't miss out!

The program will include:

- Gallery visits and facilitated discussions about art
- Working with contemporary artists and artist studio visits
- Hands-on art making projects and portfolio development
- Guest speakers and programs exploring careers in the arts
- First-hand experience of the behind-the-scenes operations of an art museum
- All necessary materials and tools for projects
- Free admission to the museum, special events for you and your family
- A culminating professional showcase of work created throughout the year in the form
of an exhibition, event, or catalog

COVID-19
All participants must wear a mask at all times while indoors. Masks are not required during outdoor programs but are suggested.

SCHEDULE

Craft Youth Culture
October 6, 2022 – March 30, 2023

The Craft Youth Culture program will meet weekly on Thursdays from 5 - 7 pm (some changes to the schedule may occur) from October 6, 2022 – March 30, 2023.  

SESSION 1

October 6, 13, 20, 27  
November 3, 10, 17 
December 1, 8, 15 

SESSION 2

January 12, 19, 26 
February 2, 9, 16, 23 
March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 

Applications are open to highly motivated, incoming 9th - 12th grade students or homeschool equivalent, who can commit to being an active attendee of all classes (both Session 1 and Session 2).

DEADLINE TO APPLY: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2022

If selected for this program, participants are expected to attend all sessions. If students need assistance with transportation to the museum, Craft Contemporary can reimburse travel expenses. Students are accepted based on their commitment level to the program and their ability to attend sessions on a consistent basis. Students who are unable to fully commit this year will be prioritized for admission the following school year if there is continued interest on behalf of the student.

After submitting this form, you will hear back from us within a few weeks to schedule your interview. Interviews will take place on a rolling basis over the summer. Accepted students will be notified by Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
