Expat Scouts Challenge Hike (cancelled due to too few participants) 
Event Timing: October 1st 2022 arrive to start at 10:00am 
Event Address: Berkenhof building, De Kluis Campsite, Kluisweg 1 Sint Joris Weert

Dear Expat scouts, you are welcome to join us for this hike in the Meerdaalwoud near de Kluis. The hike is around 12,5 km long from the back entrance to De Kluis. We aim to walk  from 10am to around 4pm depending on how fast the groups are, with suitable pauzes.  If you want to join in please can we have all the information by 17th October ?

All participants should be members of your organisation and you are responsible for their scout insurance for the activity. The tasks are most suited for scouts aged 10.5 years -15 years.   If you have a lot of younger scouts, maybe you wish to have an adult or older scout walk with them.  Instructions should be in easy English or maybe in picture form or mime!

Everyone will need a packed lunch, plenty of water, waterproofs, suitable clothing for the weather and walking shoes or boots in a small rucksack. Each team should have 2 compasses, a small first aid kit, a whistle, a mobile phone (although this may not have signal in the woods) a tarpaulin,  a pen and note book. a map case or plastic freezer bag (to keep the maps dry ). We will update with any small items your bases require, which are easy for people to bring, if told at least 5 days in advance.

Do you plan to stay after the hike (maybe cooking your own meal for your scouts) ? 
Do you plan to stay for campfire? (With Waterloo scouts from around 7pm for approx an hour)

We will provide a route plan (using both the numbered poles and a printed map) 
We will provide a certificate for participants who complete the hike and challenges. and/ or if wished we can order an badge, but it would have to be delivered a later.
There will be a small charge for the hike €5 per team to cover cost of materials/maps, and something like €1.50 per person for a badge if most want one. I will let everyone know, before the event what the outcome is. If we make a profit we'll pass this back to the Expat account.
