On Equity in Contracting with Small and Solo Local Evaluation Firms: An Open Letter to Funders
In the movement toward localization, many funders recognize that small and solo local evaluation firms, because of our knowledge of local context and culture, are well positioned to conduct appropriate and relevant evaluations that garner credible and nuanced insights. However, many funders’ systems and practices need tweaking to allow them to better partner with us. Our open letter (full letter and executive brief) describes our strengths, identifies the challenges we face in partnering with funders, and suggests small changes that funders could make in their policies, systems, and processes to more successfully work with us. We are hopeful that funders will find our suggestions feasible and that our open letter will contribute to stronger partnerships going forward.

Through this survey, we invite you to join our effort to encourage funders to tweak their policies, systems, and processes, so that they can better partner with small and solo local evaluation firms. In advance, we thank you for joining us, and we look forward to being in touch!
