Dr Kumaradas' biography:
Dr. Carl Kumaradas is an interim Associate Dean, Programs, in the Yeates School of Graduate Studies (YSGS) and Associate Professor in the Department to Physics at Ryerson University. He was the former Graduate Program Director for the Biomedical Physics program at Ryerson University. He holds a B.A.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in Medical Biophysics, all from the University of Toronto. He also was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. His main role as Associate Dean, Programs, is in supporting the development of graduate programs and assurance of their quality by working with the Quality Assurance Council of Ontario. He has taught several introductory and intermediate physics courses to science and engineering students and teaches a course of computational methods in biomedical physics to graduate students. His teaching philosophy revolves around active and experiential learning (learning by doing). His research focuses on computational modelling in medical physics with a focus on the use of nanoparticles for cancer detection and treatment. He is actively involved in collaborative research with various companies to work on the translation of his basic science research to clinical practice.
