Police Reform Community Engagement
Governor's Executive Order 203 on Police Reform and Reinvention:

Under Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order 203 on Police Reform and Reinvention, municipalities operating a police agency are required to develop a Police Reform plan to be submitted to the state by April 1, 2021. This order has come out of a local and national cry to reimagine policing to improve public safety, health and well-being. As a part of the order, we are working to convene stakeholders for a fact-based and honest dialogue about the public safety needs of the Syracuse community.
 
The specific purpose of this survey is for the administration to gauge what the community currently understands about changes happening in as well as comments and ideas about in Police Reform. This will enable us to see where more education efforts are needed.  Additionally, we’re hoping to understand what the community believes should be prioritized as we reimagine policing in Syracuse. Lastly, demographic information is being collected to understand which community voices have been heard and where there may be gaps in our outreach.
 
This information will be used solely for that purpose and results of this survey will be made public in the upcoming months.
