VTXCADs will be a global online CADathon running from March 13th to March 22nd! A CADathon (similar to a hackathon) is an educational, project-based CAD (computer-aided design) competition. Teams will be given certain themes or guidelines and must design a robot or structure in CAD that adhere to those guidelines. Teams will present their final projects to a panel of judges, who will rank teams based on the final product and presentation.
We welcome complete beginners to participate - even for those who have never touched a CAD program!
The CADathon will feature two competition groups: novice & FTC. The novice competition group will have the opportunity to learn first-hand the basics of CAD modeling, and will participate in a Seven Wonders of the World-themed challenge guided by mentors and professionals in the engineering field. The FTC competition group will compete in a virtual challenge similar to the official FTC season challenges and will have the opportunity to attend presentations and advanced skill-specific workshops throughout the competition.
The panel of judges will consist of current FTC students, FTC alumni, mentors of FTC teams, industry professionals, and representatives of STEM companies.
Throughout the course of the CADathon, there will also be educational workshops to learn about specific methods and applications of CAD, presented by professionals in the STEM world.
